La collection Variamen (variation en provençal), signée par Charles Zana, revisite les motifs traditionnels de la Manufacture grâce à des variations géométriques et des dégradés de couleurs.
Variamen, a collection of rugs by architect Charles Zana takes its name from a Provençal dialect word from "variation". The new designs revisit the traditional motifs of the Manufacture with a range of geometric variations and colour gradients.
Des motifs emblématiques du style Cogolin, basculés à 45 degrés, encadrés façon Polaroïd ou assemblés entre eux, puis déclinés dans des dégradés de couleurs, pour moderniser, sans le trahir, le savoir-faire de la Manufacture."C'est, à mon sens, ce qui doit faire la spécificité des architectes français: s'appuyer sur des techniques et des traditions artisanales en y apportant un twist contemporain" affirme l'architecte.
The architect mined the house's archives - specifically its iconic punch cards - to define his motifs for the collection. Looking to update house classics while remaining true to the Manufacture's expertise, emblematic Cogolin motifs come tilted at 45-degree angles, framed like Polaroïds or reassembled and declined in colour gradations. "The approach reflects what, in my opinion, should be the specificity of French architects: honouring artisanal traditions and techniques while introducing a contemporary spin" states the architect.
Les tapis en laine de la collection Variamen, tissés sur un fond en jute et coton sur des métiers à cantres, sont disponibles en quatre modèles différents et deux formats.
The wool rugs from the Variamen collection, woven on a cotton and jute base on hundred-year-old creel looms, come in four different designs and two sizes.
